... Read moreHey foodie fam! You know how much I love a quick and delicious breakfast or snack, and my latest obsession is this homemade garlic cheese bagel. It's truly a game-changer if you're looking to elevate your simple plain bagel into something extraordinary. I've been getting so many questions about how I make my garlic cream cheese bagels super flavorful, and honestly, the secret is in layering those amazing tastes! Starting with a good quality plain, golden-brown bagel is key. I usually grab one from my local bakery, but store-bought works perfectly too. The magic really begins when you take that bagel and carefully cut it into four sections, making sure not to slice all the way through the bottom. This creates little pockets for all the deliciousness to seep into. First up, the cream cheese! Don't be shy with it. I generously spread cream cheese into each of those cuts. It not only adds a wonderful tang but also keeps the bagel moist and decadent. For an extra kick, sometimes I mix in a pinch of dried chives or a tiny bit of red pepper flakes into my cream cheese before spreading. Next, let's talk about that garlic butter. My go-to is a mix of melted butter and herbs, but using a stick of garlic herb butter takes it to another level. I melt it down and then mix in some extra minced garlic for serious garlic punch. This is where the 'Italian herb bagel' vibe really comes in. I also sprinkle in a good amount of shredded Italian-style cheese – think mozzarella, provolone, parmesan blend. Coating the cut bagel with this melted garlic butter and cheese mixture ensures every bite is packed with flavor. Now, for the cooking method: the air fryer! It's an absolute lifesaver for achieving that perfect golden, crispy exterior and gooey, melted interior without heating up the whole house. After wrapping your prepared garlic cheese bagel in aluminum foil (this helps keep it from drying out), place it inside your air fryer basket. Cook it until the cheese is bubbling and the bagel is wonderfully toasted. The result? A finished garlic cheese bagel that's golden and cheesy, ready to be enjoyed! For those wondering about the famous Korean garlic bagel, while my recipe is more savory and focuses on Italian herbs, you can totally get a Korean-inspired twist! Korean garlic bagels typically feature a sweeter garlic butter glaze and often a sweet cream cheese filling. To adapt this recipe, you could add a tablespoon of honey or a pinch of sugar to your melted garlic butter mixture. For the cream cheese filling, consider blending it with a little powdered sugar and a tiny splash of milk for a smoother, sweeter consistency. It's not exact, but it gives you that delightful sweet and savory contrast. And a quick note for my fellow baking enthusiasts who love making bagels from scratch: I know many of you might be searching for 'bagel dough shaping rings' to get that perfect round shape with a hole. While this particular recipe focuses on transforming a pre-made bagel into a gourmet treat, if you're diving into homemade bagel dough, those rings can definitely be a handy tool for consistent results. But for a super quick and easy fix that tastes absolutely divine, this air fryer method is unbeatable!

This is sooo good! You have to try the sweet cream version I tried! It is soo delicious! I had cream cheese and added some sugar with a dash of cinnamon and mixed it together. I tasted as I added sugar to get the right sweetness and then toasted it and drizzled a light bit of honey!🥰❤️🍯🥯
