Meals under $20
This is a part of my meal budget series. It has king Hawaiian rolls, Mac n cheese and corn. Altogether, this meal was less than $20! This is a great way to budget especially if you don’t get food stamps at all or anymore. Here is the breakdown of the cost of each item on the plate:
Store: Fiesta Market
Chicken wings: $7-8
Frozen Corn: $3
Sweet baby rays: $2.50
Kings Hawaiian Rolls: $4
Box Mac N Cheese: $2
These items could cost less where you are depending on what grocery stores are available in your local area, but here is a meal idea that you can hopefully get for less than $20. Love ya!
From my experience, creating satisfying meals without spending a lot can be both fun and rewarding. When shopping for affordable dinners like the barbecue chicken wing meal described, I recommend checking local markets and discount stores like Fiesta Market, where prices often beat large chain supermarkets. Using frozen vegetables like corn not only saves money but also cuts down on prep time, making cooking quicker and easier on busy days. Adding familiar favorites such as Hawaiian rolls and box mac n cheese offers comfort and convenience, keeping the overall cost under $20. Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce is a small investment that goes a long way in adding flavor to chicken wings, turning simple ingredients into a delicious meal that feels special. To stretch your budget further, consider buying in bulk when possible or swapping out items for seasonal or on-sale products. Whether you are managing a tight budget or simply want to save more on groceries, meals like this one prove that you don’t have to sacrifice taste or satisfaction. Combining affordable proteins with easy sides can help you maintain a balanced diet while staying mindful of expenses. Give it a try and see how you can customize the meal with your favorite sides or sauces to make it your own!
