Joy & Happiness Expressed in Eyes — Art Study
Expressive portraits are something I’ve been wanting to learn to draw for years now but never really started learning. So I’m starting! I decided to study eyes separately at first, because they’re often overlooked when expressing emotion (at least by me lol). Here’s some photos from the art study page I did last night! The main things I noted:
- A gentle squint (coming from the cheeks pushing up in a smile and the eye muscles contracting)
- The lower eyelid obscures part of the iris
- Fan shaped wrinkles from the sides of the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Eyebrows sit in a relaxed arch
- Sharp, bright highlights
That’s it for now! 🩵
