Making homemade matcha ice cream is truly rewarding, especially when you have a trusted tool like the Ninja CREAMi to bring out the best texture. From personal experience, the key to a smooth and creamy ice cream lies in properly sifting the matcha powder before mixing it with a bit of warm water to create a fine paste. This step helps avoid clumps which could otherwise ruin the smooth consistency. Using whole milk and heavy cream balances richness and creaminess, but if you're looking to experiment, adding a splash of condensed milk can enhance sweetness naturally without crystallizing the ice cream. The blending order matters too: whisking the matcha paste with milk first ensures even distribution, followed by cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt to deepen flavors. Freezing the mixture in the Ninja CREAMi container for at least 12 hours is essential to achieve the right firmness. I found that running the full ice cream setting twice, as suggested, helps to perfect the texture, making it scoopable and soft. This method beats many store-bought versions for freshness and quality. For topping, whipped cream adds lightness, and sprinkles provide a fun crunch. Fresh strawberries bring a subtle tartness that complements the earthy tone of the matcha beautifully. I recommend serving immediately after preparation to enjoy the ideal creamy texture and vibrant matcha flavor. Overall, this recipe is easy to customize. For example, you can add tiny chocolate chips or a drizzle of sweet red bean paste for an authentic Japanese-style dessert twist. Matcha ice cream is a versatile treat that can be enjoyed year-round—refreshing on hot days or a comforting sweet after meals. Using the Ninja CREAMi not only simplifies the process but also makes homemade ice cream accessible for anyone craving a premium dessert experience at home.
