Hysterectomy Recovery

I am 1 day post op from having a hysterectomy and these are some of the things that were recommend to me by the older ladies at the hospital.

1. Water, Pedialyte, Ensure, Boost,Liquid IV for hydration also for a liquid diet the first couple of weeks.

2. Meds given by doctors along with opti recovery, colace, and GasX. You will need them trust me.

3. Scar tape for the incision.

4. Heating pad, iron patches, motion sickness patch. These will definitely come in handy.

5. Belly Binder for after surgery

6. Kiala Greens or laxative so you can poop. The medication will make you constipated so you need something to make you go. I used Kiala Greens.

7. Diapers for periods. There will be blood after surgery. These are comfy.

8. Night gowns are so comfy after a shower and the seamless panties if need be. Anything with easy access to the bathroom. I will take you guys along in my healing journey.

... Read moreAfter a hysterectomy, recovery can be challenging. It's important to prioritize hydration through drinks like Liquid IV, Pedialyte, or Ensure, especially during the first few weeks. Medications prescribed by doctors, alongside over-the-counter options like GasX or Colace, can aid in easing discomfort and managing constipation, a common side effect of pain-relieving medications. In addition to medications, employing comfort measures such as heating pads and using a belly binder can provide physical support. Scar care is crucial; consider applying specialized tape to promote healing. Nightgowns and seamless panties can help make your recovery more comfortable, especially as your body adjusts. Monitoring your symptoms and keeping a close watch on your incision site is essential during recovery. If you encounter excessive bleeding or severe pain, consult your healthcare provider. Remember to follow your doctor's advice regarding activity levels and dietary adjustments. Embracing a supportive network, whether friends, family, or online communities, can also improve your emotional well-being as you navigate your healing journey. Engage with other women who have undergone similar experiences by exploring forums or support groups. Planning for your recovery with these essential items and tips can significantly enhance your comfort and overall experience post-hysterectomy.

I just had a robotic hysterectomy and I didn’t have any bleeding, they told me I shouldn’t or that means something is wrong.

Bittersweet doesn’t even cover it. Hysterectomy at 35 wasn’t the plan — but neither was living in pain forever. Today held a lot: nerves, relief, fear, humor, snacks, and coming home to my girl. Sharing this for anyone walking into surgery scared but hopeful 🤍 #hysterectomy #hysterectom

Post-Op Hysterectomy Recovery
Yes — even at 12 weeks post-op hysterectomy, your body is still in a deep integration and repair phase, even if you’re “cleared” medically. Support should now focus on continuous healing — not pushing or rushing. #loveangleag #hysterectomy #posthysterectomy #healing
