She ain’t never coming
I've definitely had that one friend who swears they're coming to visit, yet somehow, it never pans out. It’s almost become an inside joke among my circle — the 'always gonna come' friend. No matter how many times they promise, life gets in the way, plans fall through, and that visit remains a distant dream. From my experience, these kinds of friendships can be a little bittersweet. On one hand, it’s nice to know someone cares enough to say they want to visit. On the other hand, it can feel disappointing and sometimes even frustrating when it never happens. But over time, you learn to not take it personally — schedules get busy, priorities shift, and sometimes distance just makes it tough. Interestingly, this phenomenon isn't unique to my experience. Many people resonate with the concept of that 'long-distance friend who always says they’re coming to visit' but never does. It's a funny, if slightly sad, aspect of maintaining friendships that span cities or even countries. Honestly, I’ve found that keeping in touch through messaging, calls, or even planning virtual hangouts can help bridge that distance when visits are off the table. It’s comforting to know that even if the physical visit hasn’t happened yet, the friendship still alive and kicking.
