Breaky Snackies
These are some high protein snacks that I’ve come to love 😌🫶🏾#lemon8diarychallenge
Breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day, especially when you're looking for sustained energy and to stay full until lunch! I've been experimenting with high-protein options, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. These aren't just quick bites; they're genuinely delicious and practical meals that I've come to love, perfect for anyone looking to boost their morning routine. One of my absolute favorites, especially when I'm craving something comforting, is a bagel-based breakfast. Forget just plain toast! I often grab a wheat bagel or a cinnamon raisin bagel. One half gets a generous spread of cream cheese – sometimes vegan cream cheese for a lighter option – and then a layer of sweet blueberry jam or a sugar-free raspberry preserve. The other bagel half? That’s where the protein comes in! I often top it with a perfectly cooked fried egg, seasoned with a little salt and pepper, or some fluffy scrambled eggs. It’s such a satisfying combination of sweet and savory textures and flavors. If I'm feeling extra, a sprinkle of fresh strawberries or blueberries on the side completes it. Then there's the classic savory breakfast plate, which is fantastic for a hearty start. I've become a big fan of building a plate around Canadian bacon slices. It's leaner than regular bacon but still packed with flavor. I'll usually pair a few slices of Canadian bacon with some egg whites for a lighter option, or a couple of whole fried eggs. Sometimes, I swap out the Canadian bacon for turkey bacon or even some savory sliced ham. To make it a complete meal, I’ll add a side of wholemeal bread with a smear of peanut butter and sugar-free jam, or some fresh sliced avocado with seeds for healthy fats. I've even experimented with adding sautéed zucchini and tomatoes to my scrambled eggs, which is surprisingly delicious and adds extra veggies! For those mornings when I'm short on time but still want something packed with goodness, I turn to a 'Morning bowl.' My go-to is a base of thick Greek yogurt. I then load it up with a mix of almond butter, crunchy macadamia nuts, and some trail mix for texture. Fresh fruits are a must – strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are my usual picks, sometimes a sliced banana too. A sprinkle of chia seeds for omega-3s and a few dark chocolate pieces for a treat make it feel indulgent but still super healthy and high in protein. It’s so easy to customize and always keeps me energized. And let's not forget simple yet effective egg dishes. Sometimes I just boil eggs and have them with sliced avocado, cut cucumbers, sliced tomatoes, and black olives. Or a plate of scrambled eggs served with a piece of toast and a refreshing glass of green matcha drink. These variations ensure breakfast never gets boring and always meets my protein goals. I hope these ideas inspire you to create your own delicious and fulfilling high-protein breakfast plates!
