idk who else to talk to abt this but im literally so ashamed and upset and p!ssed off and embarrassed and devastated AHHHGGG. i had finally gotten my dream job as a microbiologist not testing against animals, paid well and respected.. yall i worked so mf hard at this place, often 40+ hours a week, i built the lab w/my bare hands over the past 2 months. they are a startup biotech company & the lab was empty, i was the ONLY person working in this lab most days, i ordered all of the basic materials, wrote all the standard operating procedures, troubleshot all of their methods and technology, and what do they do?! randomly terminate my contract with NO kind of prior warning, coaching, or discussion with me whatsoever, AFTER i worked a full shift on Monday.

the same man who 2 weeks ago told me face to face that my contract is guaranteed SAFE for all foreseeable futures, told my contract manager on monday that i was being fired for “lack of attention to detail in the lab” & that “they attempted to coach me on it but saw no improvement”…. it’s just a bold face lie. to top it off they asked me not to contact them at all, so i will never truly get closure or understand why i was randomly terminated on a monday afternoon.

just discarded like i’m nothing. this was my comeback job after being jobless and living w my mom for 7 months yall, i just signed a new lease 5 mins away from this lab, and now i am back to square 1. just lost, confused, hurt, broke, and depression creeping in.

any support or kind words are appreciated. i’m too scared to tell my family and friends bc i don’t wanna let them down yet.. 😞 #fml back to the drawing boards yall … #wishmeluck

... Read moreExperiencing job loss can be incredibly challenging, especially when it happens unexpectedly. It can lead to feelings of confusion, helplessness, and even depression. It's important to acknowledge these feelings and understand that they are valid. Many individuals have found themselves in similar situations, often linked to the pressures of startup environments or unforeseen circumstances beyond their control. The biotech industry, while full of promise, can be fraught with instability, and job roles may shift quickly without obvious reasons. It's essential to find closure, even when communication is minimal from former employers. Seeking support from friends, family, or counseling services can be beneficial in processing these emotions. In addition, leveraging your experience for future opportunities is advisable. Reflect on past achievements and the skills you've gained – they are valuable assets in job hunting. Joining professional networks related to your field can provide both emotional support and job leads. Consider attending career fairs or workshops to broaden your opportunities and regain confidence. Remember, it’s okay to be vulnerable and reach out for help during tough times. Your next opportunity awaits!

I can relate to this, I got my first Graphic Design job. Literally worked my butt off for 2 years, took on so many extra rolls that didn’t apply to me. Would be doing stuff all hours of the day. To only be fired for “not being able to connect to my CEO”. It is going to be a horrible feeling for awhile and you will
