okay my fellow working ladies, FALL IS HERE, which you know what that means… peak dark academia fashion season is upon us! personally, i am a black & white (& sometimes grey) ONLY kinda girl; i just think these colors are so versatile, complementary, simple, moody, chic, and classy while still being emo & edgy! if you are unsure how to go about styling outfits of ur own, check dis out.
・❥・ just some of my work outfits from over the years… i barely took pics of what i would wear to work but these are what i did take pics of. dark academia is my life, black & white patterns are my bloodline. stripes, plaid, houndstooth (just learned this word today!), checkers, gingham, etc… if it’s black & white, wear it!!
・❥・ my general rules of thumb: pair ONE patterned b&w/monochrome piece with plain black pieces for an amazing outfit! boots and tights are your best friends! give yourself long bangs and wear glasses (fake lenses if need be)! thick eyeliner, rings, scarves, chokers, and jewelry make an outfit complete!! and overall, express yourself, be confident in what you wear, you are unique & if you’re wearing dark academia clothes, you’re gonna look great!
i hope u guys enjoy my outfits :3 let me know what you think ♥ thanks for looking ♥

Okay, so you know how much I adore my black and white dark academia aesthetic – it's my go-to for looking chic, moody, and put-together, especially now that fall is officially here! But lately, I've been experimenting with adding a little something extra to truly elevate that dark, mysterious vibe. And guess what? Dark red has become my secret weapon! If you're like me and love the classic black and white, but sometimes crave a richer, more intense look, diving into the dark red and black outfit aesthetic is a game-changer. Think about it: black is the ultimate foundation for dark academia, but a deep, sophisticated red can introduce an incredible layer of depth and drama. It’s not just about a bright pop; we’re talking about those gorgeous shades like burgundy, oxblood, maroon, or even a rich crimson that feels right at home in a library filled with old books. So, how do I weave this into my existing wardrobe? It’s all about strategic additions. For example, instead of just plain black tights, I might opt for a pair in a deep burgundy hue with my black plaid mini skirt. Or, like one of my favorite 'casual vampire' looks, I have this incredible black cape with subtle red accents that just screams sophisticated mystery when paired with a simple black and white striped top. It’s those little details that make all the difference! Accessories are your best friends here. Imagine a chunky dark red knit scarf draped over a black trench coat, or a pair of sleek oxblood boots replacing your usual black ones. Even small touches like a dark red handbag, a velvet choker, or a statement ring with a deep red stone can instantly transform an outfit. And don't forget makeup! A bold, dark red lipstick can be the perfect finishing touch to complete your dark academia persona. When integrating dark red, I usually follow a simple rule: let it be the accent, not necessarily the main event, unless you're going for a truly dramatic statement. For instance, pairing a rich dark red blouse with tailored black trousers, or a black sweater vest over a crimson button-down. I find that one or two key pieces in dark red, alongside my beloved black and white patterns like houndstooth or plaid, create an effortlessly edgy and sophisticated look. It feels a bit more daring, a bit more passionate, while still maintaining that academic, vintage-inspired charm. Experiment with textures too – a crushed velvet red top with a black tweed skirt, or a sleek leather black jacket over a flowing maroon dress. The goal is to create an ensemble that feels cohesive yet captivating. Trust me, embracing the dark red and black aesthetic will add a whole new dimension to your fall wardrobe and have you feeling like the most stylish person on campus – or in the office!
