moving is hard 😩 need inspo / motivation (adhd)
behold queen tuna 🍣, the master of the home.
we just moved into our new apartment (well…. ELEVEN DAYS AGO….!) & it’s been amazing having our own place again after a year of living with my mom or a friend. i love it, tuna loves it, my fiance loves it & our new kitten loves it too (pics soon♡) .
the thing is, we had about 60%-70% of our belongings in storage the past year since we were not living in our own space. so now the whole apartment is covered in boxes of our stuff, literally so much stuff in so many boxes. and it’s been 11 days & it’s still pretty far from being doneee 😭.. it’s just so overwhelming for me to do and since fiance is working, it’s my responsibility to unpack & create the home vibe. with my adhd it’s just been so hard to get motivated and get it done.
my question for my fellow adhd girls is how did yall overcome the daunting task of unpacking an entire home’s worth of belongings without giving up due to it being overwhelming ?!? any tips or tricks to making it seem more doable/approachable? any advice or encouragement helps ♡

Moving can be an extremely daunting task, especially when dealing with ADHD. Setting practical, bite-sized goals is crucial; for instance, aim to unpack just a few boxes a day instead of tackling everything at once. Breaking the tasks down makes them feel more manageable. Additionally, establish a designated unpacking area where you can prioritize essential items, allowing for a focused start. Incorporate motivational tools like playlists or podcasts to boost energy during unpacking sessions. Visual aids, such as checklists, can help track progress and maintain momentum. Surround yourself with positive affirmations to keep spirits high throughout the process. Connecting with a community can also provide motivation. Online forums and social media groups specific to ADHD and moving can offer tips and encouragement from others who understand your struggles. Share your journey and seek feedback for additional support. Moreover, reward yourself for milestones—this can provide the necessary motivation to keep unpacking until your new space feels like home. Remember, it's a process, and every small step counts towards conquering the chaos and creating a inviting living space.

For me, I found it best to tackle a certain number of boxes a day or unpacking room by room if I get a burst of energy. It’s hard bc it seems like a mountain that’ll never end! But get ya good music n and do maybe 5 boxes? I also found that stacking the packed boxes neatly in a corner help me see how much I have left
