Things I bought for my sick partner…

The man I love is home with a cold, so I thought I would share the things I got for him as my first post.

Emergen-C: I don’t know if this stuff actually works but I know a lot of people who swear by it. I had him take a packet, and I took one to try and get ahead of me catching this bug! Also it doesn’t taste bad!

Sprite: He specifically asked for this but who doesn’t love Sprite when they are ill! It tastes good, keeps his liquids up, and it’s gentle on the stomach.

Chicken and Noodles: Another cliché for any illness! Soup warms the body and the soul! You can never go wrong with Campbell’s.

Vicks VaporCOOL cough drops: Another request by him! I personally can’t do the cough drops with a really intense flavors so more power to him. Honestly this time I bought him the Walmart brand but I will be going back to the Vicks tomorrow.

Midea Humidifier: I specifically bought this humidifier from Walmart because it was a warming option! Warm mist is good when your sick but cool mist is good for your everyday use. I personally can’t stand the idea of having 2 different humidifiers. This one is super fancy and can do a bunch of things like connect to the internet and Alexa but I likely won’t use those features.

Other things: I got him some puffs ultra soft tissues. I personally don’t like the lotion ones and he uses his Burt’s bees chapstick on his nose when he’s sick.

... Read moreIt’s tough when your partner is feeling under the weather, and while those essential grocery bags of supplies are a great start, I’ve learned there’s so much more you can do to make them feel truly cared for. Beyond just the immediate relief items, creating a holistic 'get well soon' experience can make all the difference. I found that thinking about comfort, hydration, and overall well-being really elevates a simple shopping trip into a thoughtful gesture. First, let's talk about comfort beyond medicine. While my partner was sipping his green can of lemon-lime soda and enjoying chicken noodle soup, often straight from the can with some crackers, I realized that sometimes, it's the little things that bring the most relief. Think about a super soft blanket – maybe even one they don't use often, so it feels extra special. A new pair of cozy socks can also work wonders, especially if they're feeling chilly. And don't forget entertainment! Sickness can be incredibly boring. A new book, a puzzle, or even just having their favorite streaming service ready with a queue of comfort shows can help pass the time and take their mind off feeling unwell. I always make sure there's a good movie marathon ready to go, complete with a cozy setup. Hydration is undeniably key, and while the Sprite was a hit, I also keep simple things like herbal teas on hand. Peppermint or ginger tea can be incredibly soothing for a sore throat or an upset stomach. And speaking of soothing, that humidifier I mentioned? It's been a total game-changer. My black humidifier with a digital display showing its status, and specifically its warming option, isn't just fancy tech; the warm mist really helps to loosen congestion and makes breathing so much easier, especially at night. I found that while cool mist is fine for everyday, that gentle warmth is exactly what's needed when battling a cold. It's one of those investments you don't regret! When it comes to those cough drops, while the silver and blue packet of winterfrost-flavored medicated cough drops certainly helps, I also keep a stash of honey-based lozenges. They're natural, taste great, and can provide a lot of relief without being too intense. And for the vitamin C supplement, like the orange-flavored one I picked up, I always remind myself that consistency is key – whether it 'works' or not, feeling like you're actively doing something for your health can boost morale. It's about feeling proactive in their recovery. Beyond the items, your presence and support are truly priceless. Offer to run errands, take on extra chores, or simply sit with them and watch their favorite show. Just knowing someone is there, caring for them, can genuinely speed up recovery. I also try to ensure they get plenty of uninterrupted sleep – that means keeping the house quiet and running interference if friends or family call, so they can truly rest. Finally, remember to take care of yourself too! It's easy to get caught up in caring for your partner, but you don't want to catch the bug yourself. Wash your hands frequently, get enough rest, and maybe even take your own dose of that orange-flavored vitamin C supplement, just in case! Putting together a thoughtful care package isn't just about the items; it's about showing love and making a tough time a little bit easier for everyone involved.

I LOVE these plastic drawers for my college apartment. They are so affordable, hold so many things in the drawers, and are so easy to clean and move. You can buy yours from Walmart, Target, big lots, and I’m sure many other places. They are so worth it to stay organized and keep everything put away
