In spite of how despicable Beast is at the beginning as the Prince,Beast shows that he is capable of hearing someone else out and doing right by them especially Belle.

After Belle saves his life, Beast's harsh exterior softens, especially when Belle shows that she isn't going to take his angry outbursts sitting down.

With someone willing to give him a chance at redemption, Beast takes his first steps at bettering himself by building a friendship with Belle and more specifically, helping her to feel at home. The two started to form an understanding of each other, and they gave each other what they really needed.

Belle didn't care what he liked like on the OUTSIDE she matters about the INSIDE.
