Review and comparison
South salt lake and the granite library have some hidden gems!!! Murray park has the most machines of them all but by far my favorite so far is south salt lake because SHADE!!!! #frugalmom #freegym
Hey fellow fitness enthusiasts and frugal moms! If you're like me, always on the lookout for budget-friendly ways to stay active, then outdoor gyms are absolute game-changers. My recent exploration led me straight to Murray Park, a spot that's definitely worth talking about, especially if you're looking for a wide variety of equipment. From my visits, I can confidently say that Murray Park's outdoor gym area is quite impressive in terms of sheer volume. You'll find a good range of machines designed for bodyweight exercises and some basic resistance training. Think pull-up bars (various grips!), parallel bars for dips, sit-up benches, and stations for leg raises and stretching. What I really appreciate is how spread out some of the equipment is, allowing for different circuit routines without feeling too cramped, even when a few people are working out simultaneously. It's fantastic for getting a full-body workout without needing a gym membership. Now, about that infamous 'shade' comment from my initial post – it's true! Murray Park's outdoor gym can get pretty sunny, especially during peak daytime hours in the summer. So, my top tip for anyone planning a visit is to go either early in the morning or later in the evening. Not only will you beat the heat, but you'll also likely find fewer crowds, giving you more freedom to move between stations. Don't forget your water bottle, sunscreen, and maybe even a hat! Beyond the gym equipment, Murray Park itself is a wonderful green space. After a good workout, I love taking a cool-down walk on their paved paths that wind through the park. There are also plenty of open grassy areas perfect for some post-workout stretching or even a little yoga. If you're bringing kids along, there's a playground nearby, so they can burn off some energy while you get your session in – a win-win for any frugal family! Compared to other spots like South Salt Lake (which I adore for its lovely shaded areas), Murray Park truly shines when it comes to the sheer number and variety of fitness machines. If your priority is having access to a diverse set of equipment for a comprehensive bodyweight workout, Murray Park is definitely a strong contender. It offers a robust setup that can challenge both beginners and more experienced individuals. Finding these free resources has been a game-changer for my fitness journey, proving that staying healthy doesn't have to break the bank. I highly recommend checking out Murray Park's outdoor gym for yourself. Let me know what you think if you go!
