5 years is crazy 🎉

#lemon8diarychallenge

I met my five year mark at Walmart yesterday (technically it’s the 27th but they gave it to me early) . I would have never thought I’d be there for that long but I plan to stay for two years until I graduate with their tuition program that they have for bachelor’s for business!

Doing full time working , full time classes and planning a wedding that’s coming up in 3 months is very stressful but it’ll all be worth it soon enough! 🫶🏼

... Read moreHitting a 5-year milestone at a company like Walmart isn't just about the time spent; it's truly a testament to growth and dedication. While my original post briefly touched on my own anniversary, I wanted to share a bit more about how these milestones are recognized and what they can mean for employees. From what I've experienced, Walmart often celebrates long-term commitment with special recognition, whether it's service pins, certificates of appreciation, or even company-wide shout-outs. I've seen awards highlighting 'Excellence' and 'Integrity' given out, especially for those reaching significant 'years' of service, and it really makes you feel valued. It's more than just a date on the calendar; it's a moment to reflect on your journey within a massive organization, like landing a recognition in June 2024 for your dedication. One of the biggest reasons I'm committed to staying with Walmart for a few more years is their amazing tuition program. For anyone considering it, it’s a game-changer! They partner with various universities to offer bachelor's degrees in fields like business, technology, and supply chain, often covering 100% of tuition costs. This benefit is huge, especially when you're looking to advance your career without racking up student debt. You typically need to be a full-time associate and meet certain eligibility criteria, but once you're in, it truly opens doors. It helps you gain valuable knowledge and skills that are directly applicable, whether you plan to stay with Walmart or pursue opportunities elsewhere after graduation. It's one of the key aspects that definitely makes me 'evaluate the retail company Walmart' positively in terms of employee development and support for life milestones. My journey of balancing full-time work, full-time classes, and planning a wedding has been incredibly demanding. It's not for the faint of heart, but it is manageable with the right strategies. Here are a few things I've learned: Time Management is Key: Prioritize tasks daily. Use a planner or digital calendar to block out study times, work shifts, and wedding planning slots. Communicate & Delegate: Talk to your manager about your academic commitments. Don't be afraid to ask for help with wedding planning from your partner or family. Self-Care is Non-Negotiable: Even 15 minutes of quiet time, a short walk, or a relaxing bath can make a huge difference. Burnout is real! Leverage Company Resources: Beyond tuition, explore any employee assistance programs. Find Your Support System: Connect with other associates who are also pursuing education or managing big life events. Sharing experiences helps a lot. This period of my life, especially with the wedding approaching in just three months, feels like a sprint towards multiple finish lines, but the promise of a degree and a new chapter makes every stressful moment worthwhile. Thinking about the long haul, these 'walmart life milestone celebrations' are more than just formalities; they mark significant personal and professional growth. Staying with a company for multiple 'years' allows you to build a strong network, gain diverse experiences across different departments, and truly understand the intricacies of a large retail operation. It’s an opportunity to apply what you learn in your studies directly to your daily work, creating a powerful synergy. For anyone wondering if staying long-term at Walmart is worth it, especially with programs like tuition assistance, I'd say yes, if you have clear goals. It provides stability, benefits, and a pathway to advance your education and career. It's about taking advantage of the opportunities presented and shaping your own 'Excellence' within the company.

So much in my life has changed in 5 years. Crazy how fast time flies. I went from living with my in laws, at my heaviest, broke and had no idea what COVID would really bring. I don’t want to say I’m grateful for COVID because of all the damage it did but the time I spent during it changed my life.

OK, so this book took me on a wild ride. I haven’t read much from this author and I had seen her in passing, but I haven’t seen many reviews. I was bawling my eyes out…. Talk about hard hitting. 💔 I don’t want to give anything away so I promise no spoilers, but sometimes reading a book like this
