Listen, yesterday I had a real conversation. Not easy. Not soft. But real.
I asked a simple question, Why is it okay to say Mexican American, Asian American, African American, But the moment someone says European American, it becomes a problem?
Why?
Let’s think deeper. America, this land, It did not start with us.
It belongs, first, to the native and Mexican people. And across this entire continent from North to Central to South there were already people here. Living. Building. Loving. Thriving.
Then history happened.
Not always proud. Not always fair. So when we speak about identity, when we speak about who is “more American”, maybe the real truth is this:
Being American is not about where your ancestors came from.
It’s about understanding where you stand today. It’s about respect. It’s about truth.
It’s about recognizing the past, without denying it.
Because no one owns struggle.
No one owns identity.
And no one gets to rewrite history just because it feels uncomfortable.
We are ALL part of this story now.
But don’t forget, some roots go deeper than others. And that matters.
Let’s stop getting offended,
and start being honest. Let’s go make amazing things happen today. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.
