Hey fellow Guardians! As someone who absolutely loves the thrill of landing those perfect headshots, I wanted to share my personal journey and tips for dominating with snipers in Destiny 2. There’s nothing quite like turning the tide of a match with a well-placed long-range shot, especially when you’re trying to gain a ZONE ADVANTAGE in a heated Control game or hold down a crucial lane in Trials. For me, snipers aren't just about raw damage; they're about precision, positioning, and sometimes, a little bit of flair! In PvP, a good sniper can shut down entire lanes, pick off supers, and create crucial breathing room for your team. In PvE, they're fantastic for boss damage, taking out high-value targets from a safe distance, and challenging yourself to hit those critical spots. Over the seasons, I've tried countless sniper rifles, but a few have really stood out in my arsenal. For kinetic, I’m a huge fan of Beloved. Its clean optics and the ability to roll with Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot make it feel incredibly snappy. When I'm in the energy slot, Cloudstrike is my go-to for its chain lightning perk, which is just devastating in both PvP and PvE, especially when enemies are grouped up. And for a heavy option, you can't go wrong with Izanagi's Burden for its incredible burst damage. Seriously, if you haven't tried honing that Honed Edge x4 shot on a boss, you're missing out! When it comes to perks, Snapshot Sights is almost non-negotiable for PvP, drastically speeding up your aim-down-sights time. For PvE, Fourth Time's the Charm or Triple Tap are excellent for extending your magazine size and keeping those damage numbers high. Don't forget about armor mods either! Equipping Sniper Targeting on your helmet, Sniper Dexterity on your arms, and Unflinching Sniper Aim on your chest will make a noticeable difference in how your sniper feels. These small tweaks really refine the experience. Now, let's talk tactics. Positioning is everything with a sniper. Finding a good vantage point, like the rocky Overlook areas on some maps, can give you a clear line of sight to key choke points. My strategy often involves setting up at a distance, picking off enemies trying to capture a zone or push a lane, and then quickly repositioning if I get pressured. Maintaining a ZONE ADVANTAGE means denying the enemy access, and a well-placed sniper can be the ultimate deterrent. Don't be afraid to aggressive peek, but always have a retreat path in mind. Learning to quickscope or “no-scope” effectively in close quarters has saved me more times than I can count, though it definitely takes practice! I vividly remember one Iron Banner match on the map Endless Vale. We were losing two zones to one, and the enemy team was pushing hard for our last point. I rotated to a high Overlook position, pulled out my Beloved, and managed to shut down their entire push, landing three quick headshots that allowed my teammates to rally and reclaim a zone. That feeling of contributing to a ZONE ADVANTAGE with precision was just incredible.
