Side note : take a taxi from the airport because Ubers are illegal, the Uber driver may have you walking some distance just to pick you up so to avoid that just get the taxi or see if the hotel you book with have a shuttle system.

Visa:

-Visa is not needed, but you do need to fill out something called a check mig, they didn’t ask me for it but they ask other people for it. You have to do it both ways when you go in and when you comeing. It’s free 👇🏾 link

-Transportation 🚗🚕

You can take Uber almost anywhere, however, it is illegal so use it only for short distances, to go anywhere far use a taxi but negotiate the price before you get in.

Hotels 🏨

- Getsemani is where all the colorful stuff is at, it’s not all in one spot you have to walk around. I

- If you stay at the chain hotels it’s a 15 to 20 mins uber ride into Getsemani and the uber is very cheap

- The boutique hotels are inside Getsemani

Booking activities:

- activities can be booked with the hotel. They usually partner with some booking company. If not, they can point you in the right direction.

- they also have booking spots on almost every corner in Getsemani or you can use those booking apps like viator.

Other info 📝

- you can pull out cash and take it with you and change it over there at the money centers

- or you can go to the ATM there’s one in the airport

- Make sure to get small bills because sometimes they don’t have change for the bigger bills

- Every single thing you have to pay for if somebody walk up to you on the street rapping you have to pay for that if you want to take pictures with the ladies in the dresses you have to pay for that so just make sure you have cash on you all the time.

Cartagena
2024/11/18 Edited to

... Read moreCartagena, located on the northern coast of Colombia, is a vibrant city steeped in history and culture. Renowned for its stunning architecture, colorful streets, and lively atmosphere, Cartagena offers a plethora of experiences for every type of traveler. History buffs will delight in visiting the old city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where colonial buildings and ancient fortifications stand as testaments to Cartagena's rich past. Additionally, the nearby Getsemani neighborhood boasts a unique blend of art, music, and local cuisine, providing a perfect backdrop for exploration. In terms of activities, tourists can enjoy a variety of water sports such as jet-skiing and sailing trips to the beautiful Rosario Islands. Notably, the mud baths at Totumo Volcano provide a unique and rejuvenating experience, attracting both locals and visitors alike. When it comes to dining, Cartagena’s culinary scene has something for every palate, from traditional Colombian cuisine to international options, ensuring guests can savor delicious meals while enjoying stunning views. Moreover, Cartagena's nightlife scene is thriving, with a range of bars and clubs offering everything from laid-back lounges to high-energy dance floors. Negotiating taxi prices in advance is recommended for safe and reliable transportation, especially since Uber is not legally permitted in the city. It’s important for travelers to keep cash on hand for entrance fees or to engage with local musicians and street artists. Traveling to Cartagena requires a little preparation, including completing a “Check-Mig” form for immigration, although a visa is not needed for many visitors. All of these elements make Cartagena a must-visit destination, rich in culture, entertainment, and adventure.
