Gossiping or Undermining: You might hear through the grapevine that they’ve been talking negatively about you, or subtly spreading untruths. They might also subtly try to undermine your confidence or achievements when others are around. Competitive Behavior: Every conversation becomes a competition. If you achieve something, they have to achieve something bigger. If you share a challenge, they have an even worse one. There's a constant need to one-up you. Inconsistent Behavior: They might be incredibly warm and friendly one-on-one, but act distant, cold, or even slightly dismissive when other people are present. This can be a sign that their friendly facade is for show. Subtle Sabotage: This can be tricky. It might be 'forgetting' to pass on important information, 'accidentally' revealing something private you shared, or quietly putting you in awkward situations.
