The Human Girl at Phoenix Academy (L.G. Savage)

The Human Girl at Phoenix Academy

L.G. Savage

What happens when a supernatural council sends a human girl to their academy for supernaturals? It must be a mistake. For Ava, it could be the death of her.

I loved Ava. She is fierce and smart and although human takes no shit. This is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, romance. There are true fated mates, werewolves, vampires and so much more. I read this on the JoyLit app. Multiple POVs. And it does get spicy along the way. The characters are so beautifully layered and the pacing is top notch. My only issue was that JoyLit is a ppc (pay per chapter) app so I had to earn coins (or buy them) in order to open the next chapter, so that is the only thing that messed with pacing because each chapter feels like a cliffhanger when you have to wait for the next. But despite that, I loved this novel. @joylit_official

Ava’s character stands out as a human among a world of supernaturals, navigating dangers and alliances with wit and strength. The supernatural council’s decision to send a human girl to their elite academy creates an exciting premise that explores themes of trust, identity, and survival in a richly built world. The enemies-to-lovers trope is masterfully executed, lending emotional depth to the evolving relationships within the story. Fans of werewolves, vampires, and mystical fated mates will appreciate the complex interplay of power and passion that shapes the narrative. The use of multiple points of view enhances the story’s complexity, allowing readers to connect with various characters and understand their motivations more intimately. One notable aspect that readers should consider is the serialization format on the JoyLit app, which uses a pay-per-chapter model. While this setup keeps each chapter feeling suspenseful, it requires either earning or purchasing coins to continue, which might interrupt the narrative flow for some. Nevertheless, the cliffhanger endings encourage anticipation and engagement with the story. From a personal standpoint, the book’s fast pacing and well-layered characters kept me hooked from start to finish. Ava’s fearlessness and no-nonsense attitude provide inspiration, especially as she confronts challenges typical supernaturals might face but from a human perspective. The academy setting brings together an intriguing mix of magical creatures, making every scene alive with tension and chemistry. In conclusion, if you're looking for a supernatural romance that mixes thrilling action, heartfelt romance, and an imaginative cast, 'The Human Girl at Phoenix Academy' is a rewarding pick. It’s a story about finding strength in unexpected places and the power of love that transcends species and destiny.
