Chosen by the Cursed Alpha King

Chosen by the Cursed Alpha King

The book begins with Alpha King Maximus and Emilia. Emilia is the daughter of an alpha, sent as an offering to the Alpha King, but it’s more like sacrificed by her family to the Alpha Kings curse, because the kingdom knows that one night with the king ends in a woman’s death.

But Emilia isn’t about to let anyone kill her. We take this journey with them as it seems Emilia is more than meets the eye and may be just what the Alpha Kings needs to soothe his savage beast.

Through this journey we meet several other characters as the book comes in two parts. First, Emilia and Maximus’ story, and then the second half we journey through Maximus’ brother’s story and his Beta Lucien. Emilia and Maximus then become our supporting characters and the book start to finish has been done so well. The characters contain so much depth and emotion that they are universal in their insecurities and fears. The pacing is very well done. I really enjoyed reading this novel.

Night Owl is the author’s name in the Kifflire app. It is another pay per chapter app.

What struck me most was how the story masterfully balances the dark, cursed fate looming over Emilia with her fierce will to survive. Her resilience and unexpected strength bring a fresh twist to the typical Alpha romance trope. The narrative is cleverly split into two parts, which I found refreshing. The transition from Maximus and Emilia’s intense, emotional storyline to the story of Maximus' brother and his Beta Lucien provides a broader perspective on the kingdom's dynamics and adds complexity to the world-building. The way Emilia and Maximus shift from protagonists to supporting characters felt seamless and natural, illustrating the author’s excellent control over pacing and character development. What also impressed me was the emotional depth and relatability of the characters. Their fears and insecurities are portrayed with such authenticity that it feels like peering into universal human experiences, despite the supernatural backdrop. This makes the book highly engaging beyond the typical fantasy romance audience. The phrase "chosen by the cursed Alpha King" encapsulates a powerful theme of sacrifice and survival, which resonated with me throughout the read. I especially appreciated how the curse’s menace serves not only as a plot driver but also as a metaphor for battling inner demons and past trauma. For readers who enjoy character-driven stories with a mix of danger, romance, and intense emotional arcs, this novel is a gem. It’s also worthwhile to note that it’s available through the Kifflire app under the pen name Night Owl, a platform that caters to serialized pay-per-chapter stories, which allows readers to immerse themselves gradually in the vivid world Night Owl has created.
