More important than the note. 🤔
🎵 don't know enough notes. You have to know the accent!
.
The little notations on the notes are not just harder to see, but what they say should be "loud-light," "fast-slow," "focused-relaxed," or "fluid."
.
🔹 p (Piano) = light play.
🔹 pp / ppp = very light / most light
🔹 mf (Mezzo Forte) = pretty loud.
🔹 f (Forte) = loud.
🔹 ff (Fortissimo) = very loud.
🔹 crescendo = gradually increasing loudness.
🔹 dim. (Diminuendo) = Gradually reduce loudness.
🔹 sfz (Sforzando) = accentuating that particular note.
🔹 rit. (Ritardando) = Gradually decelerate.
🔹 accel. (Accelerando) = Gradually increase speed.
🔹 Staccato (•) = Play Short, Firm, Clear Sound Separation
🔹 Legato () = Play, bridge the sound to a continuous fluid.
🔹 Fermata () = stretch or hold the sound longer than usual.
.
Because playing music is not just about pressing the right notes, it's about making people feel the music.
So how many of these symbols do you know? 🎹🎸🥁
