Poem by me
Writing 'The Actor Within' was a deeply personal journey for me. It’s about those moments when you feel like you’re constantly performing, wearing a 'practiced smile' even when inside, you're 'crumbling' under the weight of expectations. We all have our masks, don't we? That feeling of a 'borrowed breath,' each step a chore, and your soul whispering, 'I can't anymore.' Society often demands a 'brighter face,' pushing us into an 'endless, suffocating race' where our 'scream in silence' goes unheard and unseen. When I wrote the lines, 'But what if I let the mask fall away? Would the world still stay, or turn away?' it truly captured a profound fear. It's terrifying to imagine judgment when you're already feeling 'lost, broken, and small.' Yet, the poem is also about that 'yearning for someone to see through the lies' you present, to truly understand the person 'trapped in the spaces where I've never been.' For me, 'seeing it through' isn't just about enduring; it's about seeing through the facades we build—both for ourselves and for others—and finding the courage to reveal our true selves. How do we begin to 'find a light' in this 'endless fight'? It starts with small acts of authenticity. Maybe it’s confiding in a trusted friend, or simply acknowledging to yourself that it's okay not to be okay. It’s a slow process of peeling back those layers, realizing that true strength lies in vulnerability. It takes immense courage to 'see it through' when you're trying to live authentically. There will be days you feel like giving up, where the 'ache too deep, the cost too high.' But holding onto that dream of 'a day I won't at all' feel lost, broken, and small—that's what keeps me going. If you resonate with 'The Actor Within,' know you're not alone. This journey to truly 'see through' the masks and embrace our real selves is continuous, but it's a profound path towards finding that inner 'light' we all deserve.
