You already know I'm an animal lover, but let me tell you more about my fur babies! Kikyo, my Lab/Husky/Shepherd mix, is truly my shadow and my best friend. She's got the most expressive eyes and keeps me on my toes with her playful energy. Every morning, her gentle nudge is my alarm clock, and our walks around San Diego are my favorite way to clear my head and find inspiration. Then there's Booda, my vibrant orange cat. He's the king of cuddles and purrs, often found 'helping' me in my studio by napping on my art supplies. They bring so much joy and warmth to my life, and honestly, they're often the first 'critics' of my work, usually by just sniffing it! If you're a pet parent, you totally get how much these creatures mean to us, right? Being a multi-media artist with 'no niche' might sound a bit chaotic, but for me, it's pure freedom! One day I might be sketching horses, drawing inspiration from my travels – like that unforgettable trip to Sayulita, Mexico, where the ocean views were breathtaking and the horses majestic, just like the one in my photo. The next, I'm diving into a watercolor portrait, capturing the essence of a family for their holiday memories, or even working on a unique matchbox design commission. My artistic process is really about following what excites me in the moment. I love experimenting with different textures, colors, and stories. Sometimes, a piece starts with a vivid dream, other times it's a photograph, or even just the way the light hits something ordinary. It keeps things fresh and challenging, and I believe it allows me to pour more of my authentic self into every creation. I’m always learning and evolving, and that's the most thrilling part of being an artist. I'm genuinely excited to connect with fellow creatives and animal lovers here on Lemon8. It feels like a wonderful space to share my journey, the ups and downs of art-making, and maybe even some behind-the-scenes glimpses of my life with Kikyo and Booda.
