Hey fellow artists and Cyberpunk Edgerunners fans! You just saw my drawing of Lucy, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into what inspired me and how I brought her to life on paper (or screen!). When I first watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Lucy instantly became one of those characters you just have to draw. Her design is so iconic – that sleek white hair, her distinct outfit, and those expressive eyes! There's a real depth to her character, and I love trying to capture that mystique in my art. For this piece, I started by gathering a bunch of reference images. Seriously, reference photos are your best friend! I looked at different poses, facial expressions, and even screenshots from the show to get her details just right. Then came the sketching phase. I always start with very light, loose lines to get the basic shapes and proportions down. It's totally okay if it looks a bit messy at this stage – it's all about finding the flow. I focused heavily on getting her jawline and the angle of her eyes right, as those are key to her recognizable look. Once I was happy with the sketch, I moved on to the line art. This is where I refine everything, making sure the lines are clean and confident. I used a slightly darker pencil (or a digital brush with a firmer setting) to go over my chosen lines, erasing the extra sketch marks as I went. Then, of course, came the coloring! Lucy's color palette is quite striking, mostly cool tones with splashes of vibrant purple and neon. I experimented with different shades to get that authentic Cyberpunk glow. Layering is super important here – starting with base colors, then adding shading and highlights to give it depth and make it pop. One of the biggest challenges was capturing her expression. Lucy carries a lot of emotion, and conveying that without making her look overly sad or angry was tricky. I spent a good amount of time adjusting the corners of her mouth and the tilt of her eyebrows until I felt like I had her contemplative, yet determined, gaze just right. If you're thinking of drawing your own fan art, especially from a show like Cyberpunk Edgerunners, my biggest tip is to really connect with the character. What do you love about them? What emotions do they evoke? Trying to convey that personal connection through your art makes it so much more impactful. Don't be afraid to experiment with styles or poses that might be outside your comfort zone. Every drawing is a learning experience, and the more you practice, the more you'll find your own unique artistic voice. I'm already thinking about who to draw next – maybe David or Rebecca!
