Selain mengucapkan terima kasih atau "xièxie", orang China sering menggunakan ungkapan "nǎ li nǎ li" (哪里哪里) yang artinya kurang lebih "mana ada" atau "tidak seperti itu" sebagai cara merendah ketika mendapat pujian. Ungkapan ini menunjukkan kerendahan hati dan membuat suasana menjadi ramah tanpa terdengar sombong. Misalnya saat seseorang memuji "你很漂亮" (nǐ hěn piàoliang) yang berarti "kamu cantik sekali", respon "哪里哪里" bisa menjadi jawaban yang pas agar kamu tetap sopan dan natural.
