Calling all low porosity wavy/curly hair people, plssss help me 😩 I have hard water so I did a clarifying wash then conditioner before doing the LCO. I used Ouidad moisture lock leave in, luseta curl cream, and mielle air dry styling gel w/ a smidge of proclaim glossing polish. Maybe I did too much??? Idk. #wavyhair #2ahair #2bhair #lowporosityhair
Caring for low porosity wavy and curly hair, especially in hard water conditions, can be a bit challenging but rewarding with the right approach. Hard water deposits minerals that often cause hair to feel dry or look dull, which is why starting with a clarifying wash before conditioning is a useful step. This process helps remove mineral buildup, allowing your hair to absorb moisturizing products better. When dealing with low porosity hair, using the LCO (Liquid, Cream, Oil) method is commonly recommended because it helps layers of moisture seal in effectively. However, it's important to balance the amounts used. For instance, leave-in conditioners like Ouidad Moisture Lock provide hydration without heaviness, while curl creams such as Luseta can define waves and curls. Styling gels, like Mielle Air Dry Gel, offer hold but can become too much if overapplied, especially with additional glossing polishes. To optimize hair care, consider using smaller amounts of each product initially and gradually adjust based on your hair's response. Additionally, applying heat occasionally, such as with a warm towel or diffuser, can help open the hair cuticle slightly to improve product absorption, a key factor for low porosity hair. Also, incorporating a weekly deep conditioning treatment can significantly improve softness and manageability. Always rinse hair with cool water at the end of your routine to help close the cuticle and lock in moisture. Finally, pay attention to your hair’s needs daily and avoid excessive layering of products which might lead to buildup or weigh down curls. Experimenting with product combinations is part of finding the perfect routine that works in your unique environmental conditions, such as living in a hard water area.
