What is a Tea Flight?

Ever wanted to try multiple teas without committing to a full bag? 🍵 Discover the beauty of a tea flight, which lets you try many teas in a set, usually in 1-2 serving pouches. Some tea flights let you try different types of Oolong and others a mixture of raw puerh or white tea e.g. My tip: explore flavors, find your favorite, and start your tea journey around your findings.

... Read moreI remember the first time I heard about a 'tea flight,' and my curiosity was instantly piqued! As a tea lover, I'd often find myself wanting to try new blends or types of tea, but committing to a whole bag without knowing if I'd truly enjoy it felt like a gamble. That's where tea flights became an absolute game-changer for me, and I can't recommend them enough for anyone looking to expand their tea horizons. So, what exactly is a tea flight, from my perspective? It's essentially a curated selection of different teas, usually presented in small, individual pouches or samples, each containing enough for one or two servings. Think of it like a wine or beer tasting, but for tea! This brilliant concept allows you to explore a variety of flavors, aromas, and tea types without the need to purchase larger quantities of each. It’s perfect for those of us who appreciate the nuances of loose leaf tea and want to embark on a tasting journey. One of the biggest benefits I've discovered is the sheer joy of exploration. My first tea flight introduced me to a range of Chinese tea varieties I'd never considered before. I got to sample several distinct Oolongs, each with its own unique floral or roasted notes, and even ventured into the earthy depths of a raw Puerh tea. It was fascinating to compare them side-by-side, truly appreciating the differences in their aroma, liquor color, and flavor profiles. Without that flight, I might never have found my current favorite white tea, which has a delicate sweetness I now adore. Tea flights are also incredibly practical. They save you money and space! Instead of ending up with several half-empty bags of teas you might not finish, you get just enough to decide if a particular tea is for you. This 'try before you buy' approach is invaluable, especially when you're exploring more premium or unique types of tea. It's also an educational experience; many flights come with tasting notes or information about the origin of each tea, which deepens your appreciation for the craft. If you're thinking about diving into the world of tea flights, here's my advice: Look for flights that pique your interest. Some focus on a single type, like a 'Puerh Tea Flight' featuring various aged or raw Puerhs, while others offer a broader mix, perhaps combining a green, a black, and a white tea. When you sit down for your tea tasting, take your time. Notice the dry leaf aroma, the scent of the steeped tea, and then, of course, the taste. Don't be afraid to jot down a few notes about what you like or dislike about each one. It's a wonderful way to document your personal tea journey and discover your true tea preferences. Whether you're a seasoned tea lover or just beginning to explore the vast world of loose leaf tea, I truly believe a tea flight is an enriching and delightful experience that everyone should try!
