At Club Med Yabuli, a visitor took my rented snowboard, later recovered and verified by police using CCTV within hours. In contrast, the resort’s crisis follow-up took nearly a full day. During the process, staff shared other guests’ room numbers and private contact details, resulting in a serious data-protection and confidentiality breach. Although the snowboard was returned, I lost an entire day of my holiday and the value of one night’s stay (~SGD 750). The resort’s compensation options were promotional add-ons and discounted vouchers, not recovery measures equivalent to the actual time and experience lost.

Unfortunately, the compensation offered, such as discounted vouchers or promotional add-ons, fell far short of the actual cost and the emotional impact of that lost day, which was approximately SGD 750 for a single night’s stay. More disappointingly, the hotel declined even basic fair compensations like a spa session for my family, which could have helped restore some guest confidence. From this, I learned that accepting fault isn't enough; hotels must implement timely and fair recovery strategies to protect trust, privacy, and fairness. If you plan to visit Club Med Yabuli or similar resorts, I strongly advise confirming the resort's data protection policies and service recovery plans ahead of time. Protecting your vacation experience goes beyond excellent facilities— it also means safeguarding your personal information and receiving respectful treatment when issues arise.
