“If you’ve ever stared at a pile of laundry and felt completely defeated… this one’s for you.”
Two days.
That’s how long this pile has been sitting here, silently judging me. 😅 I did a lil bit of it but lot still here.
Before my hysterectomy, I would’ve knocked this out without thinking twice. Now? Surgical menopause has turned even the simplest tasks into mountains some days.
The exhaustion. The emotions. The lack of motivation. It’s not laziness—it’s learning how to live in a body that suddenly plays by a whole new set of rules.
Today, I’m giving myself credit instead of guilt. Because healing isn’t always productive, and surviving the hard days still counts.
If you’re in this season too, I see you. 💜 One load at a time. One day at a time. One chore at a time.
Tell me I’m not the only one who’s had a “laundry mountain” take over a room. 👇
... Read moreLiving through surgical menopause after a hysterectomy can be a profoundly transforming experience, as many of us encounter unexpected physical and emotional challenges that reshape our daily lives. The overwhelming exhaustion and fluctuating emotions that come with this transition often make simple chores, like tackling a piled-up stack of laundry, feel insurmountable.
From my own journey, I've learned that it's crucial to approach these challenges with compassion for oneself rather than self-criticism. It's common to feel frustrated when tasks that once seemed effortless now require significant energy and motivation. But acknowledging these changes as part of healing helps shift our perspective from guilt to growth.
Breaking down chores into manageable chunks has been a lifesaver. Instead of aiming to complete everything at once, focusing on one load or one step at a time maintains progress without overwhelming the mind or body. This approach also nurtures a sense of accomplishment, reinforcing that healing is a process with ebbs and flows.
Engaging with supportive communities, whether online or in-person, where experiences of #SurgicalMenopause and the #HysterectomyJourney are shared, provides indispensable encouragement. Hearing that others also face these "laundry mountains" validates our struggles and reminds us that we are far from alone.
Moreover, embracing rest as a necessary part of healing rather than perceiving it as laziness allows for a healthier relationship with our changing bodies. Paying attention to what the body needs and adjusting expectations accordingly can make a meaningful difference during tough days.
Over time, the combination of patience, supportive networks, and self-kindness fosters resilience. It reminds us that surviving the hard days, even when productivity dips, is a victory worth celebrating. Ultimately, healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about perseverance, self-care, and recognizing that every small step forward brings us closer to feeling like ourselves again.
