STUDY & SNACKS 🧃🥯 for students 📝

there are some foods that are great for a study sessions and some that i find not so great 😬 here are my quick lists from a 4th year biomed student

food/snacks i recommend:

➡️ candies/gummies

great for a quick sugar replenishment. your brain rely mostly on glucose to function so eating simple sugars would help greatly! but beware of the sugar crash tho 🫣

➡️ cold coffee/matcha

i personally looovvvvve having a cold drink during my study sessions. it makes me feel refreshed and helps me focus more on my work. i always get a latte and plain water (to cleanse the aftertaste 😖)

tips: take sips so that you wouldn’t need to go to the toilet as often!

➡️ smoothies

smoothies are great for study sessions especially when you’re feelings hungry. the coldness makes it refreshing and the thickness makes you full 😋 no excuses for you to leave from your table!

➡️ fruits

some fruits like berries are easy to eat and not too juicy (no one wants juice dripping on your notes!!). as long as you can make sure that the fruits aren’t too watery (eg. peaches) then they are a great way to get your fibers and vitamins in while studying 🧃

food/snacks i DONT recommend:

➡️ chips

i hate washing my hands after eating chips, soo inconvenient. however, if you are truly craving for chips, i would say eat them with chopsticks to prevent getting your hands dirty.

➡️ granola bars/pastries/cakes/cookies

crumbs, crumbs and crumbs everywhere! not great for note taking at all 😅 and it gets really messy…

➡️ spicy foods

it makes me fidgety and nervous 😖 so i mostly avoid spicy foods during studying.

Almonds are packed with healthy fats, protein, and vitamin E, which can support brain health and keep you satiated longer. When studying, I usually keep a small container of mixed nuts by my side. They’re easy to snack on without getting your hands too greasy or messy, which is a huge plus when handling books or typing. Another tip I personally found helpful is prepping your study snacks in advance. For example, washing and chopping fruits like berries or apples the night before saves time and encourages you to choose healthier options over junk food. Also, using a to-do list for your study session, like charging your iPad or phone and preparing snacks ahead (as suggested by the image), helps keep your workflow smooth and minimizes interruptions. Finally, staying hydrated is key, so I highly recommend pairing your snacks with water or a drink you enjoy, like matcha or iced coffee, in small sips to avoid frequent bathroom breaks.
