This song almost didn't make it on the album primarily bc I felt the lyrics were inappropriate for a husband of 20 years and a father of 2. That said, musically it might be the best produced track on the album. It's very rhythmically unique. I wrote this song in the late nineties but the second verse was written near the time of recording since I forgot the lyrics. I have changed some lyrics in my older songs in cases where an update made sense or if I just forgot or lost the original lyrics. That said, songs on the Crushing Days album retain about 90 percent of their original version. 'I Was There' is the 6th single from my 'Crushing Days' album and is available now.
