Happy Bass Riff Version 2
I came up with the first part of this riff a few weeks ago and it did pretty well so I am building around it. I have since added a second variation in the riff and another part which will probably be the bridge. I even drafted a verse and a chorus but the lyrics and vocal line still need a ton of work. Vocally I am considering something being rapped or sung rhythmically. I want it to be fun and upbeat and to feature the bassline as the most prominent part.
I am very slowly getting back into creating. NGL, it has been very nice to just rest on the weekends and not work on music. Needless to say, it can be quite the grind working a day job, doing things around the house and focusing my attention as a husband and father. Once I am done with everything, just relaxing and not being on these apps feels... comfortable. I don't have the same sense of urgency as when I started this project. It's been 5 years as Pype720 and I have achieved my goal of releasing all my songs as of this year. I really could stop music at this point with no regrets which is very tempting.
Still there's something missing when I am not creating. Like most artists, I need to be creating. I do plan to get back to the music grind but motivation is tough. Starting during the pandemic, I had tons of time and nowhere to be. That has changed significantly so it's a different grind. I have tons of ideas but man is it a nice feeling to spend my weekends on the couch with my family streaming sports and playing video games.
Anyways, let me know how you are. I am excited about what this little bass riff could become. I want to prioritize making more fun and uplifting music so this is another step in that direction. Thanks for listening and supporting!
Developing a compelling bass riff that serves as the cornerstone of your music can be both challenging and rewarding. Many musicians draw inspiration from diverse rhythms and styles to craft basslines that are catchy, upbeat, and integral to the song’s identity. Incorporating variations and building a bridge section, as mentioned in the original post, adds depth and interest to your composition, making the piece more dynamic. Adding vocals that blend rapping or rhythmic singing can elevate the bass riff into a full-fledged song with energy and personality. This style is popular in genres that mix melodic hooks with strong rhythmic elements, such as funk, hip-hop, or fusion, where the bass takes a lead role instead of just supporting the harmony. Balancing the demands of everyday life with creative ambitions is a reality for many artists. The pandemic, as highlighted, provided a unique opportunity for reflection and creation, giving time that was previously unavailable. Now, managing family responsibilities and work while reigniting the passion for music requires patience and motivation. Many creators find that taking breaks and enjoying simple pleasures like watching sports or gaming can recharge their creative energy.
