Hello Rosie

Hey everyone! Following up on my Rosie cosplay, I wanted to share a bit more about the journey, especially since I know many of you might be looking into cosplaying her too! When I first started planning, the biggest hurdle for me was definitely Rosie's unique aesthetic – she's such a fashion icon in Hazbin Hotel! Let's talk about the makeup first, since I mentioned it wasn't my best attempt. Honestly, getting that distinctive doll-like, almost unsettling yet elegant look for Rosie is harder than it seems! I spent hours watching tutorials, scouring TikTok for inspiration, and practicing different techniques. My main tips for Rosie's makeup would be: Foundation is Key: Rosie has a very pale, almost porcelain complexion. A full-coverage, light-toned foundation applied smoothly is essential. Don't be afraid to go a shade or two lighter than your natural skin tone. Exaggerated Eyes: Her eyes are big and expressive. Think about using white eyeliner on your waterline to open them up, and dramatic false eyelashes on both the top and bottom. Don't forget those signature angular black lines extending from her lashes! Rosy Cheeks & Lips: Despite her name, her cheeks aren't overly rosy, but there's a subtle, aged blush. For lips, a dark, well-defined cupid's bow is crucial for that vintage, doll-like pout. A deep red or maroon lipstick works perfectly. Practice Makes Progress: Seriously, don't get discouraged if your first few tries aren't perfect. My first attempt was... interesting! But each time, I learned something new about blending, contouring, and how to make the features pop. It's a journey, not a destination! Beyond the makeup, Rosie's outfit is equally iconic. Her large, elaborate hat, the elegant dress, and of course, her parasol, all contribute to her character. For the hat, I looked for secondhand pieces to modify, adding floral embellishments and dark lace to get that proper Victorian Cannibal vibe. The dress can be a challenge – I opted for a dark, floor-length gown and added my own lace overlays and brooches to mimic her style. If you're crafty, making the parasol yourself can be a fun project, or you might find a plain one to decorate. And for anyone, like me, who sometimes feels a bit self-conscious about their cosplay – whether it's makeup, wig styling, or prop making – remember why you started! Cosplay is about celebrating characters we love, expressing creativity, and connecting with a community. It doesn't have to be 'con-perfect' or win awards to be valid. The joy is in the process, the effort, and the fun you have embodying your favorite character.
