Hey everyone! If you're dreaming of a truly unforgettable escape, let me tell you about my trip to Palawan, Philippines. The original post perfectly captures how it feels like 'the last secret paradise of the Philippines,' and honestly, it’s one of 'the most beautiful islands in the world' I've ever visited. When I was planning my trip, I kept hearing about Palawan, but nothing quite prepared me for the actual experience. For those of you wondering how to make the most of it, here are a few tips based on my recent adventure: Getting There & Around: Most international flights land in Manila or Cebu, and then you'll take a domestic flight to Puerto Princesa (for the underground river) or El Nido. Once you're on the island, tricycles are your best friend for short distances, and vans are great for inter-town travel. Don't worry, it's pretty easy to navigate! El Nido Island Hopping is a MUST: Seriously, this is where the magic happens. I did Tour A and Tour C, and both were incredible. Tour A takes you to places like Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, and Shimizu Island – imagine kayaking through narrow passages into stunning hidden coves! Tour C was equally amazing with Helicopter Island and Matinloc Shrine. Book your tours with reputable local operators; they often include lunch which is usually fresh grilled seafood right on the beach. Pack a waterproof bag for your phone and camera! Coron's Underwater Wonders: If you love diving or snorkeling, Coron is your paradise. The Japanese WWII shipwrecks are absolutely fascinating to explore, even if you’re just freediving. Kayangan Lake, often called the cleanest lake in Asia, is an otherworldly experience with its crystal-clear freshwater and saltwater mix. It's a bit of a hike to get there, but the view alone is worth every step! What to Pack: Beyond the obvious swimwear and sunscreen (reef-safe, please!), I’d strongly recommend good water shoes (for rocky beaches and getting on/off boats), a wide-brimmed hat, and a reusable water bottle. Cash is king in many smaller areas, so make sure to withdraw some Philippine Pesos in bigger towns. Embrace the Simplicity: Palawan isn't about luxury malls or bustling nightlife. It’s about disconnecting and immersing yourself in nature's raw beauty. The evenings are often spent enjoying fresh seafood by the beach or simply stargazing. It’s the perfect place to hit that ‘reset’ button and truly unwind. I left feeling so refreshed and already dreaming of my next visit. If you're looking for an authentic, breathtaking adventure, Palawan absolutely needs to be on your bucket list!
