Mental health refers to our overall emotional and psychological well-being, while mental illness involves diagnosable conditions that can affect a person's thinking, feeling, and behavior. In my community, conversations around gun violence often highlight the need for comprehensive approaches — including better mental health support, stricter background checks, and public education on gun safety. Healing America's mental and societal wounds requires tough conversations and brave steps. Ultimately, the path forward involves balancing constitutional rights with the safety and well-being of all citizens. It is a collective responsibility to address these 'insanities' mentioned in the article while fostering compassion and justice across society. Only then can meaningful reductions in gun violence occur, creating safer environments for families and communities.
