Batterson Park Pond Boat Launch and Parking Lot
The park is closed but the boat launch area can still be accessed. There is a notice that advices against swimming in the pond. However, the pond is open for kayaking, boating, fishing, etc.
We visited after work hours on a weekday. Parked our car and stood next to the water on a pleasant weather evening. There were other people there to enjoy the weather and scenery. It was calm and quiet. Watching the geese and seagull was entertaining. Just sitting in the car and getting lost into water-gazing is also worthy.
The sunset happens on the opposite side of the pond, but on a sparse-clouds day the sunset colours would add to the vibe here.
We will definitely revisit when we want to peacefully enjoy the nature. Hoping the park opens up and the entire area is maintained.

Just a friendly heads-up, as I noticed from a signpost and local advisories, NO SWIMMING is allowed in the pond, so it’s best to stick to water activities like paddleboarding or boating. The water is often quite calm, making it perfect for beginners or those just looking to unwind. One of the highlights for me was the abundant wildlife. During my visit, I saw numerous geese gracefully swimming and resting by the shore, and a few ducks paddling around. Watching them go about their day alongside the occasional seagull was surprisingly entertaining and added to the tranquil atmosphere. It’s a great spot for birdwatching, so consider bringing binoculars if you're into that! The trees lining the distant bank provide a beautiful natural backdrop, especially as the sun begins to set, even if the main sunset view is on the opposite side. Parking is usually convenient right by the boat launch. I recommend visiting on a weekday evening, as it tends to be less crowded, allowing for a truly peaceful experience. Just sitting by the water, whether in your car or on one of the benches, and getting lost in some water-gazing can be incredibly therapeutic.
