Come get a wavy haircut with me

I had my first wavy hair cut. ⬇️Details⬇️

I understood pretty late in life, only a few years ago, that my hair is wavy and if not treated a certain way they end up frizzy. They weren't damaged, they just needed to be handled differently.

And while on the journey of understanding my wavy hair and the hair care routine, I also got my first wavy hair cut in May by a hair stylist who specialises in such haircuts. 50 mile drive to was worth it.

Here's to all the curvy / wavy hair girls out there who are on this journey or planning to start one.

Read moreHave you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, “Why is my straight hair turning wavy?” Or perhaps, like me, you spent years battling what you thought was just frizzy, unruly hair, only to discover a hidden world of beautiful waves? It's a common experience, and often, hair texture can change due to various factors like hormones, environment, or even just maturity. For me, it was a 'late in life' realization that my hair wasn't damaged, it just needed to be treated differently. Understanding this was the first step on my wavy hair journey to finally making my waves look good and defined. Controlling frizzy wavy hair often feels like an uphill battle. The key to making your waves more defined isn't about fighting them, but embracing them with the right routine. I've learned that hydration is paramount – using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, and always following up with a leave-in conditioner or curl cream. When it comes to drying, ditching the aggressive towel rub for a 'plopping' method with a cotton t-shirt, followed by diffusing on low heat, has been a game-changer. These steps gently encourage the wave pattern and help lock in moisture, significantly reducing frizz and enhancing natural curl definition. Choosing the right haircut for wavy frizzy hair is just as crucial as your product routine. I can't emphasize enough the difference a specialized wavy haircut makes. Finding a stylist who understands wavy and curly textures means they know how to cut hair to enhance its natural pattern, rather than fighting it. For instance, layers are often essential to remove bulk and allow the waves to spring up, creating that desired voluminous look without the 'triangle' effect. A good cut can transform your hair from a frizzy mess to beautifully defined waves, making everyday styling so much easier. My goal was always to achieve a low-maintenance wavy haircut – something that looked great without hours of styling. This is where the right cut and simple styling techniques come together. A skilled stylist can cut your hair in a way that allows your waves to fall naturally into place, requiring minimal effort. For shoulder-length wavy hair, for example, strategic layers can create a lovely shape that air-dries beautifully or just needs a quick scrunch with a bit of gel. Even for low-maintenance short haircuts for frizzy hair, the principle is the same: a cut designed to work with your texture, not against it, will lead to easier styling and more defined results. Ultimately, my transformation journey from frizzy to defined, low-maintenance waves has been incredibly empowering. It's about more than just a haircut; it's about learning to love and care for my natural hair texture. If you're on a similar path, or just starting to realize your hair might not be what you thought it was, remember that patience and experimentation are your best friends. Don't be afraid to seek out a specialized stylist and try new techniques – your beautiful, defined wavy hair is waiting to be unleashed!
