Decentering men, ESPECIALLY white men
After my experiences on TikTok… I’ve learned that I have enough white men in my real life whom I work with on a regular basis to unpack patriarchy, misogyny, and white supremacy. I gave hours of my time coaching men through understanding how they were still continuing to use misogyny. So, for 2025 I’m treating myself kindly by only allowing a few I trust to be my mutuals. I’ve been bitten too many times to keep jumping back into the snake pit online. 👩🏼🦽💨🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ #quadzilla215 #tankgirl #wheelchairbarbie #sorrynotsorry
In recent conversations, the importance of addressing misogyny and patriarchy has come to light, especially in digital spaces like TikTok. Many individuals have expressed frustration with white men who avoid this critical self-reflection. This trend emphasizes the need for personal boundaries when engaging with those who refuse to unpack harmful behaviors. For 2025, there’s a collective push toward decentering relationships that perpetuate these issues. This involves prioritizing healthy, trustworthy connections and minimizing the emotional labor associated with guiding others in understanding their privilege. The idea is not just to disengage from toxic conversations but to consciously surround oneself with individuals committed to growth, equity, and justice. As we navigate these conversations online and off, the authors advocate for a mindful approach to social connections, emphasizing self-care and community-building among those actively working to dismantle oppressive systems. This journey reflects a broader societal movement toward accountability and improvement in behaviors surrounding gender and race, generating a supportive environment for genuine, constructive dialogue.
