How my bookclub used a poll!?
My bookclub and I finally finished The Davenports and it was amazing to say the least. We were so disappointed to find out that that the sequel doesn’t officially come out until later this year 🥲. Nevertheless, the bookclub must read on lol. So this time around we used a poll to choose our next book. Everyone got an opportunity to choose books for the poll. After we put all the books in the poll and everyone voted. This is how it turned out and as you can see our next book is *drum rolllllllllllll* 🥁 Little Rot by Akwaeke Emezi. We are no stranger to Ms. Emezi as we read You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty earlier this year. I am excited to get into this book, I have become a fan of this author and I am ready for what this book has in store! 🙂↕️😁 If you have read Little Rot please let me know your thoughts!! 💭

Polls can be a great way for book clubs to engage all members in the selection process. By giving everyone a voice in choosing the next book, it fosters a sense of community and excitement. For this meeting, we compiled a list of potential reads including titles from various genres, ensuring there was something of interest for everyone. The act of voting not only motivates participants to read together but also opens up discussions about everyone’s preferences in literature. This time, we decided on 'Little Rot' by Akwaeke Emezi, which promises to be an exciting read following the captivating 'You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty.' Emezi's unique narrative style and deep thematic exploration have garnered a loyal following, so diving into this new book should spark engaging conversations. If your book club hasn't tried using a poll yet, it's worth considering for your next selection! It not only makes the process inclusively democratic but also adds an element of fun and anticipation for each meeting.
