Still Under Construction, Still Covered
Some of us are grieving old versions of ourselves while trying to build new ones at the same time. And honestly? That’s exhausting. But I’m learning that growth doesn’t always look loud or impressive. Sometimes it looks like showing up tired. Trying again. Praying again. Choosing not to quit on yourself even when the progress feels slow.
I used to think being “under construction” meant I was failing. Now I realize it means God is still working on me. Still rebuilding the parts of me that survival mode wore down. Still teaching me how to build a life that feels stable, intentional, and whole.
So if you’re in a season where everything feels unfinished, messy, or uncertain… this is your reminder that unfinished does not mean abandoned. Some of the strongest foundations are built quietly. Brick by brick. 🤍🧱✨
When I first encountered the idea of being "under construction" in my own life, it felt remarkably validating. Too often, society pushes for immediate results and visible success, making it easy to feel defeated when progress is slow or invisible. But I've come to understand that real growth usually unfolds quietly and gradually, much like the metaphor "brick by brick" suggests. One powerful insight I want to share is about embracing consistency over motivation. Motivation fluctuates; it often comes and goes with our energy and mood. However, showing up daily, even when tired or uncertain, creates rhythms and systems that build a sustainable foundation. It's in these quiet, often unnoticed moments—praying again, trying again—that we reinforce our identity and resilience. I also learned the importance of reducing open loops or unfinished tasks that drain mental energy. Simplifying decisions and protecting focus can make a surprising difference in maintaining momentum. It’s not about perfection; it’s about refining and building on what exists rather than starting over. A crucial element in this process is self-compassion. Growth isn’t linear and often involves revisiting being a beginner multiple times. Instead of labeling setbacks as failure, I view them as part of the journey of learning how to hold myself differently and create stability out of chaos. If you find yourself in a season where life feels messy or incomplete, remember that it's a common experience shared by many. The feeling of being "unfinished" does not mean you are abandoned or falling behind. Often, it means you are in the process of becoming stronger and more whole. Leaning into faith or whatever source of strength you trust can provide significant comfort and guidance. Ultimately, growing through these "under construction" phases builds a deeper, more intentional life aligned with your true identity rather than fleeting motivation. Keep showing up for yourself, honor your progress no matter how small, and trust that these unseen efforts are laying the groundwork for a more resilient and fulfilled you.
