Should I agree to take a loan for investment?
My boyfriend makes $10k a month and wants to quit to start a storefront; I make $6k, and we have $50k saved. He’s proposing I take a $40k loan, he’ll take $60k, and we’d split profits evenly. I’m nervous, bcuz my income is lower, and if the business tanks, I’m on the hook for a loan almost 7x my monthly pay. He says it’s “equal risk” since he’s leaving a stable job, but my debt-to-income ratio would be way tighter. Have any of you dealt with joint business loans with a partner? Is 50/50 profit split fair when our contributions (loans + existing savings) aren’t equal? Worried about ruining our relationship over money.
