I just walked by the upcoming Nintendo flagship store in San Francisco’s Union Square (global store #5 !). Not officially open yet, but ppl who scored reservation slots are already shopping inside. From the outside, it looks modest, maybe the size of a small boutique but when you peek through the windows, there’s a whole lower level expanding into the space! Reminds me of the Tokyo Nintendo stores with their layered layouts. Saw a massive digital screen at the entrance where people were demoing Mario Kart 8 classic Nintendo energy with that bright red and blue branding everywhere. The staff inside were decked out in Nintendo merch, handing out mini-posters to lucky walk-ins.
Opening day’s May 15th, and I’m already planning my visit for the underground gaming demo area. Anyone else visited a Nintendo store in Japan or NYC? Who’s lining up for the San Francisco Nintendo store next week? Or did anyone else miss the reservation slots and feel personally victimized by the universe?
