1 vs. 22 is a huge gap
I have been with my boyfriend for 6 months and things have been great. We align on life values and future goals. We never talked exact numbers on body count but he hinted his was low. Mine’s just 1 and matching that matters to me. Zero feels off, 1 to 3 makes sense. But turns out his is 22! I know we should’ve clarified earlier but wow. I told him 1 vs. 22 is a huge gap, even joked my “1” barely counts. Should I end things over this?
Navigating the topic of body count within a relationship can be sensitive and complex. The phrase “1 vs. 22 is a huge gap” points to the emotional concerns one partner may feel when realizing their significant other’s past sexual experiences greatly differ from their own. This difference often brings up questions about compatibility, trust, and shared values. Body count refers to the number of sexual partners a person has had, and while it may be an important factor for some, it’s crucial to assess why it matters to you personally. Is it about emotional security, fear of judgment, or concerns about health and trust? Open and honest communication is key to understanding each other's perspectives and setting boundaries. It's natural to question the impact of such a gap on the relationship. However, having a higher body count does not necessarily predict relationship success or difficulties. Many couples thrive despite differing pasts because they prioritize mutual respect and shared goals. What truly matters is how both partners handle the revelation and whether they can build trust moving forward. When one partner says “Should I dump my bf over his body count of 22?”, it reflects a moment of reflection on personal deal breakers. It’s important to give yourself space to process emotions and discuss feelings without judgment. Consider counseling or couples therapy if it feels challenging to navigate this alone. Ultimately, deciding to continue or end a relationship over differences in body count is a personal choice framed by values, trust, and compatibility. Understanding that every person’s past is part of their story, and focusing on who they are now with you, can help move the relationship toward honesty and acceptance.

Honestly a lot of these comments are downplaying and saying it’s not a big deal but I disagree. If you don’t feel comfortable being with someone with 22 bodies then u have every right to feel that way. Just bc hookup culture is normalized doesn’t make it okay. Think clearly about what u want and if u think u can live w the fact that he has that many bodies then okay. If not, do what u have to do to protect yourself and give yourself peace
