Is this normal?

My partner and I have a 4 year old, and he's still in our room every single night. He might drift off in his own bed initially, but without fail, he sneak into our room halfway through the night, crawl under the covers, and snuggle up. Not once has a night gone by where this didn’t happen!

Our relationship’s solid, cosleeping hasn’t thrown a wrench in things, and our kiddo seems totally happy and secure. But lately, I’ve been thinking that is this common for a 4 year old? Are we doing something “unhealthy” by letting it continue or is it just a normal phase?

I see so many parents talking about sleep training and kids sleeping alone by toddlerhood, which makes me wonder if we’re outliers. To all the parents, did your kid cosleep this long? Was it something you worried about, or did you just go with the flow? Is there a point where we should gently nudge them to stay in their own bed?

... Read moreMany parents wonder about the typical age for children to transition from cosleeping to sleeping independently. It's quite common for children around 4 years old to still seek comfort by sleeping with their parents, especially during times of change or stress. Cosleeping at this age often reflects the child's need for emotional security and closeness rather than a sign of any behavioral problem. Research suggests that continued cosleeping, when it works well for the family, does not inherently harm the child's emotional development or the parents' relationship. In fact, it can promote strong family bonds and a sense of safety for the child. However, it's important for parents to assess whether this nighttime routine is meeting everyone's needs for rest and wellness. Experts emphasize that the decision to encourage a child to sleep independently should be gradual and sensitive, considering the child's temperament and family dynamics. Some children naturally outgrow the desire to cosleep, while others may require gentle guidance and reassurance as they adjust to their own bed. Establishing consistent bedtime routines, offering comfort objects like stuffed animals, and creating a calm, inviting sleep environment can support this transition. Sleep training methods vary widely, and not every child fits a strict schedule or approach. Many parents find success by 'going with the flow,' responding to their child's cues while fostering independence when ready. If cosleeping hasn't negatively impacted the parents' relationship or the child's happiness, many experts agree there's no urgent need to change the routine. Ultimately, the key is balancing the child's emotional needs with healthy sleep habits that support the whole family's well-being. Open communication with your partner and attentiveness to your child's cues will help you decide if and when to encourage your child to stay in their own bed. Remember, each family's journey is unique, and what matters most is a loving and secure environment.

Heck my 11 year old still sleeps with me every now and then 🥰

My brother slept with my parents at that age. He's six now and has been sleeping on his own for about a year and a half. It took him a bit to get used to it but he's fine now. Totally normal.

So I’ve never really dealt with any chest pain. I get light headed when I stand up. I’m always tired and have no energy but I also can’t sleep when I lay down. This so probably isn’t the best place to go to for medical advice, however, does anyone else suffer from symptoms like this with a heart

my underarm hair seems to be thicker and coarser than most people I know. It grows back pretty quickly after shaving too, which adds to the whole jungle-underarm vibe I've got going on. Is this just a normal body hair variation, or could something else be at play? Anyone else out there dealing

Lived-In, Loved, and Totally Normal House 🏠
I used to feel like my home had to look picture-perfect all the time. But you know what? This is real life. There are dog toys, cords, mismatched furniture—and I love it! It’s lived in, warm, and ours. And that’s what makes it special. Real homes tell real stories—and that matters more than perfect
