When “Protect the Children” Protects the Powerful
They shout “protect the children” from every podium and pulpit—until the abuser is powerful, wealthy, or politically useful. Then it’s deflection, denial, and damage control. The outrage disappears. The excuses multiply. This was never about children. It was about control, image, and loyalty to power. Real protection means accountability, even when it’s uncomfortable, even when it’s your own.
