Everybody say hey Stellaaaa 🦋
After my eye surgery , I was pretty lonely. A month had went by and I still couldn’t drive. My fiancé and I were considering getting a pet for me . I originally wanted a dog because I had a cat before . I figured I would be more active if I had a dog .
Well I guess I’m more of a cat lover at heart. Stella is my third cat. My first one tragically died after my roommate let her out the house by accident . The second one ran away but was captured by neighbors. I had to go live with someone else after that apartment and couldn’t take him with me . Stella was found on a rehoming Facebook group. We have enjoyed her ever since .
For anyone wondering , she’s a calico! Sweet, loud and affectionate ha .
It's incredible how a pet can truly transform your life, isn't it? When Stella joined our family, it wasn't just about getting 'a cat' – it was about welcoming a vibrant personality into our home. I often get asked what she's like, and my answer is always the same: she's a quintessential calico! For those wondering, calico cats like Stella are famous for their unique tri-color coats. Did you know most calicos are female? It's a fascinating genetic quirk, linked to the X chromosome! Their personalities are often just as colorful and diverse as their fur patterns. Stella, for instance, perfectly embodies the 'calico cat' stereotype: she's got a big personality, sweet and cuddly one moment, then playfully loud and demanding attention the next. It’s truly never a dull moment with her around! Those adorable little meows and contented purrs really brighten even the quietest days, especially when I needed it most after my eye surgery. I remember those first few weeks feeling a bit lost and isolated, unable to drive or get out much. Having calico cat named Stella curl up next to me, purring contentedly, was such a profound comfort. She didn't judge, she just offered unconditional love and a warm presence. It truly highlights how much emotional support our furry friends can provide. If you're considering a pet, especially after a challenging time or just looking for a loyal companion, I can't recommend it enough. The unique bond you form with a rescue pet, knowing you've given them a second chance, is particularly special. One thing I've learned from Stella is that every cat has their own quirks and ways of showing affection. Some are lap cats, some prefer to observe from afar, and some are a delightful mix! Stella is definitely a cuddler, and I love seeing her stretch out on the bed, paws extended, completely relaxed. Those moments, whether she's sleeping soundly on the couch with her paws tucked under her head or playfully batting at a toy, are incredibly precious. Building that trust and understanding with her has been immensely rewarding. It’s amazing how quickly they learn your routines and become an integral part of your daily life. If you're thinking about welcoming a new cat into your life, especially from a rehoming group like we did with Stella, here are a few things I've found incredibly helpful. Patience is absolutely key – they need time to adjust to their new surroundings and feel safe. Providing a quiet, safe space where they can retreat when overwhelmed is essential. And of course, lots of love, gentle interactions, and playtime! Interactive toys can be great for bonding and keeping them stimulated. Don't underestimate the power of a good petting session; it's therapeutic for both of you! Every time I see a picture of her, like the one saying Meet Stella, it reminds me how grateful I am for her presence. She's not just a pet; she’s a cherished member of our family, bringing warmth, laughter, and endless affection into our lives every single day. Her loud purrs and sweet headbutts are the best kind of therapy.
