Before the Locs and after pictures 🥰🌸🍋🫶🌷🦋

4yrs, and I'm still enjoying my Loc journey. Best decision I've made with my natural hair. Always thought locs were cute. Always were braids and wigs, and had plenty of perms growing up.. When I started my loc journey, it taught me to love myself more from within... I have my ups n down and dislikes when it comes to the beginning stage of growing locs.... But as time flew by, I learned to be patient and let my locs grow.. It's fun trying different loc styles and also getting styles over my Locs...

... Read moreStarting my loc journey was truly a leap of faith, a decision many natural hair enthusiasts consider for years. Like many of you, I spent years cycling through perms, braids, and wigs, often feeling disconnected from my natural texture. The idea of a 'loc transformation' isn't just about changing your hair; it's about a profound shift in how you see and care for yourself. I wanted to share more about the practical side of this journey, especially what to expect during those crucial 'before' and 'after' stages. Before I even got my locs, I spent time researching methods – comb coils, two-strand twists, interlocking – trying to figure out what would work best for my hair type and lifestyle. It's not just about picking a style; it's about laying a healthy foundation. I made sure my hair was in its best condition, focusing on deep conditioning and minimal heat. This preparation phase is key, as healthy hair forms healthy locs. Once the locs were in, the real 'before' stage, or what many call the "ugly phase," began. The first few months require immense patience. My hair didn't instantly look like those perfect 'dreads popping' pictures you see online. There was frizz, some budding, and a constant urge to manipulate them. But learning to trust the process was crucial. Regular washing with residue-free shampoo and proper drying became my routine. I quickly realized that consistent moisture was my locs' best friend, helping to keep them soft and manageable as they began to mature. I remember being so excited when my bangs started growing in and finally forming proper locs – it was a small victory that made me feel like the transformation was truly underway! As my locs progressed past the 10-month mark, I really started to see the transformation taking shape. The budding began to seal, and the individual locs became more defined – truly, my 'dreads popping' moment! This is when the versatility really kicks in. I started experimenting with different updos, braids, and twists, finding joy in styling them in ways I never could with loose natural hair. I even tried my hand at coloring them around the 10-month mark, hoping for a vibrant pink, though it turned out more red. It was a learning curve, but it added another layer to my personal hair story. It's moments like these, seeing the growth and changes, that truly make you feel 'beauty at its finest.' Now, four years in, I'm firmly in the 'after' stage, and the journey continues to be rewarding. My locs are mature, strong, and truly a part of me. The maintenance routines have become second nature, and I've learned to listen to what my hair needs. From simple retwists to elaborate styles, the possibilities are endless. This isn't just about hair; it's about self-acceptance, patience, and celebrating your natural self. If you're considering starting your own loc journey, or are in the early stages, remember that every phase is part of a beautiful transformation. Embrace the process, trust your hair, and enjoy the ride to your own 'dreads popping' and 'beauty at its finest' moment!
