I can’t change her story — but I can rewrite mine.

Sometimes, life makes you the one who shows up — even when no one else does. 💚

Some things in life really cannot plan one… you just do it ’cause it feels right.

Visited my aunty again. We lost contact for many years, only reconnected last Sept. She’s not married, no kids — and honestly, when I was young, she never seemed to like me much leh. I was the mischievous and daredevil one compared to all her nieces! 😅

But life really funny sometimes.

Now she trusts me enough to make important decisions for her. Not easy lor — sometimes I feel stressed, scared, even judged. People may say I’m kaypoh or “too free” since I’m a freelancer. Some might even think I got motive! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Last time I used to care what people say.

Now I don’t bother already.

’Cause when she smiles seeing me, that’s enough. 🫶

Still, it makes me think…

how sad it is that at her age, she cannot enjoy her retirement. Bed-bound, fully dependent — after a lifetime of saving and stinging for “later.”

I am much more fortunate than her. I have a family.

But I also don’t want to burden my family when I’m old.

I don’t want to sting on myself or live with regrets.

I want to do what I like, and live the way I want.

Glad that this automated platform allows me to do more — to plan ahead, live meaningfully, and still leave something behind. 🌿✨

Don’t sting on yourself till too late lah.

Love yourself, live a little, plan smart —

so you can enjoy your golden years with peace of mind. 💚

... Read moreTaking care of an elderly loved one can be one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences. From my personal journey, I’ve learned that showing up consistently, even when it’s difficult or when others may not understand your reasons, can significantly impact both your loved one’s well-being and your own growth. It’s not uncommon to face judgment or misunderstandings, especially when you step into caregiving roles that others might not anticipate for you. However, focusing on the small moments — like the smile of gratitude from someone you care for — can instill a profound sense of purpose and connection. This experience also highlights the importance of early and thoughtful retirement planning. Many of us tend to postpone planning for our later years, hoping to save and prepare for the future. Yet, sometimes life’s unpredictability means "later" might come sooner than expected. I’ve realized that balancing practical financial preparation with embracing the freedom to enjoy life in the present is key. Platforms and automated tools are increasingly useful in helping us manage our plans effectively, ensuring that we leave a meaningful legacy without burdening our families. Moreover, witnessing a loved one’s loss of independence underscores the need for compassion and creating environments that honor dignity as we age. Aging with dignity means more than just physical care; it involves emotional support, respect, and maintaining a sense of autonomy wherever possible. It can be deeply empowering to choose how we live, love, and care — rewriting our stories with intention, even if we cannot change the past. Ultimately, my personal experience has taught me to prioritize self-love and smart planning. It’s a reminder to all that it’s never too late to start living the way you want and to plan in ways that bring peace of mind for yourself and your loved ones. Embracing these principles helps transform the challenges of aging and caregiving into opportunities for deeper connection, growth, and fulfillment.
