Have we become too busy just surviving?

Didn’t manage to go for my bird photography session last wkend coz the weather turned bad 😅

But while clearing my SD card tonight,

I came across this Blue-throated Bee Eater photo I took wk ago.

This little fellow was busy flying around catching insects.

Not just for themselves…

sometimes also for their loved ones.

And somehow,

looking at it tonight made me reflect alot too.

Isn’t life abit like that for many adults as well?

Everyday we keep moving:

working,

providing,

caregiving,

handling responsibilities,

thinking about the future…

Quietly trying our best for the people we care about.

But sometimes…

have we been so busy surviving for everyone else,

that we forget to check if we ourselves are tired too?

I think many adults quietly carry this feeling nowadays.

Still pushing on.

Still doing what needs to be done.

Even when mentally and emotionally tired.

Maybe that’s why little moments like this remind me to slow down once in awhile 😊

Coz even in busy seasons of life…

we also deserve a little breathing space too

How abt u?

Have life been feeling abit tiring lately too?

Read moreLooking at the example of the Blue-throated Bee Eater tirelessly flying around to catch insects for itself and its loved ones, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much human life mirrors this kind of steady, relentless effort. In today’s fast-paced world, many of us juggle multiple roles—workers, caregivers, providers—and often push ourselves to the limits without realizing the toll it takes on our mental and emotional wellbeing. Over time, I’ve noticed that when we focus only on surviving day to day, we risk neglecting our own needs. Personally, I started carving out small pockets of time for activities that recharge me, whether it’s a short nature walk, journaling, or simply sitting quietly and breathing deeply. These moments don’t just improve my mood—they help me reconnect with my inner self. Another helpful insight is learning to recognize the signs of burnout early: constant fatigue, irritability, or a feeling of emptiness even when busy. Just like the bee eater that must stop to rest between flights, we also need to honor our body’s and mind’s calls for rest. It’s essential to create 'breathing space' even amid busy seasons in life. Finally, sharing these feelings with others can also be a source of relief. Friends, family, or mental wellness communities provide supportive environments where we learn we are not alone in this struggle. From my experience, acknowledging that it’s okay to slow down has been a vital step toward a healthier, more balanced life—one where survival doesn’t mean just going through the motions, but living fully and mindfully.
