✨ Homemade Tuna Helper Fettuccine Alfredo (Better Than the Box!) 🐟🧄🧀
I was craving Tuna Helper but wanted to make it from scratch with ingredients I already had at home. It turned out creamy, comforting, and honestly tastes even better than the boxed version! 🤍
🍝 Ingredients
• 8 oz fettuccine noodles
• 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
• 3 tbsp butter
• 3 tbsp flour
• 2 cups milk
• 1¼ cups water
• 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• ½ tsp onion powder
• ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
• ¼ tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp parsley (optional)
• Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
👩🏻🍳 Directions
1. Cook the fettuccine according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
3. Slowly whisk in the milk and water until smooth. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, parsley, and nutmeg.
4. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce begins to thicken.
5. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
6. Fold in the drained tuna and let it warm through.
7. Toss in the cooked fettuccine until coated in the sauce. Add a splash of milk if you prefer a thinner sauce.
8. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade comfort food! 🥰
